Rochester Knighthawks General Manager and Vice President of Lacrosse Operations Dan Carey announced today that the team has signed forward Stephen Keogh to a one-year contract. The deal is pending league approval.
Keogh, 36, returns to Rochester for his eighth season having totaled 121 goals and 123 assists in 80 games with the previous Knighthawks organization from 2012-2019. Additionally, he gathered 285 ground ball recoveries while also recording 31 points (15+18) in 15 postseason contests. The 5-foot-10, 200-pound forward helped the franchise win three straight NLL Championships.
As a rookie in 2012, Keogh ranked third amongst all Rochester players as he tallied 26 goals and 32 assists for 58 points in 16 games. He later added four points (0+4) in three playoff games during Rochester’s first of three league titles.
Keogh enters his 12th season in the NLL having combined 451 points (227+224) in 151 career games with the former Knighthawks organization, Halifax Thunderbirds, Colorado Mammoth and Toronto Rock. He has also produced 44 points on 21 goals and 23 assists in 20 postseason contests.
During the 2022-23 campaign, Keogh, a four-time 20-goal scorer and five-time 50-point getter, reached both marks as he recorded 26 goals and 54 points in 17 games with the Rock. He ranked fourth in all offensive categories amongst all Toronto forwards.
Prior to turning pro, Keogh completed a four-year collegiate career at Syracuse University, totaling 154 points (115+39) and 88 groundballs in 68 games. When the Toronto, Ontario native finished his senior season with the Orange in 2011, he ranked ninth on the program’s all-time list in goals with 133, which included 11 game-winning tallies.
Keogh, who posted 21 career hat tricks won back-to-back Division I national championships with Syracuse in 2008 and 2009, was a two-time USILA Honorable Mention All-American. Following his senior season, he was named the BIG EAST Player of the Year and USILA Second Team All-American.
He also played eight seasons with the Six Nations Chiefs (MSL) from 2010-2017, scoring 131 points (59+72) in 65 regular season games. Also, he netted 135 points (69+66) in 75 playoff games and also helped the team claim the Mann Cup Championship in 2013, 2014 and 2016.
Keogh was originally a first-round selection (2nd overall) of the previous Knighthawks in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft.
