The NLL season may be over for the Knighthawks, but the summer lacrosse season is in full swing. There are 17 Knighthawks playing in the following leagues: the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL), Major Series Lacrosse (MSL), the Can-Am Lacrosse League (CALL), and the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League (RMLL).
PLL:
The PLL played its third weekend in Maryland to cap off the month of May. The weekend started with a 29-goal affair between the hometown Whipsnakes and the Boston Cannons. Graydon Hogg scored his first goal of the summer, using the extra space offered by the field game to find an open shot right on the crease.
The Denver Outlaws got a big win in the rematch of the 2025 PLL Championship, topping the New York Atlas 16-9. Jake Piseno scooped up five ground balls and is still hunting his first goal of the season.
The Utah Archers fell in a low-scoring affair on Saturday afternoon. Connor Fields factored in on three of the team’s five goals in their loss to Maryland. Mitchell Dunham got the “star cornerback” treatment in his third PLL game and fifth professional game. He only had two touches in the entire game and one groundball as the Whipsnakes took none of their offense Dunham’s way.
The last game of the weekend was a Knighthawks faceoff. Blaze Riorden was in goal for the Carolina Chaos against Thomas McConvey and the Philadelphia Waterdogs. McConvey scored once as Riorden allowed only eight goals and helped drive his team to a 10-8 win. He made 14 saves and posted a .636 save percentage.
MSL:
Knighthawks players are on four different teams in Major Series Lacrosse, Canada’s East Coast Senior “A” league. The Six Nations Chiefs already appear to be the favorites; they are the only undefeated team remaining in the league at 4-0.
Ryan Smith has helped drive that success, ranking fourth in the league with 14 points on six goals and eight assists. He’s joined in the locker room by NLL teammate Tyler Biles, who’s already notched two assists in three games. Smith scored back-to-back goals in the second period against Brooklin, one of them being a beauty of a dive from his strong side.
The Peterborough Lakers will play two games this week, against Oakville at the beginning of the week and Brooklin later. Matt Gilray has only played one game so far this summer, but Adam Thistlethwaite has played in every Lakers game so far this season. He scored his first goal in the team’s 16-6 win over the Brampton Excelsiors.
Senior “B”:
Two Knighthawks are playing Senior “B” this summer, and both are showing out.
Cam MacLeod has played three games so far for the Edmonton Miners, who lead the league with a 3-1 record. MacLeod played all but the season opener and has made 89 saves in three games while allowing only 6.7 goals against per game.
Taylor Jensen is playing his second summer with the Tonawanda Braves. He has tallied five goals and 10 assists in 10 games for the 5-5 Braves. Over the weekend, he scored his fifth goal of the season in an overtime loss to Allegany.
