(Rochester, NY)… The Rochester Knighthawks have been showing out so far this summer, playing senior box lacrosse and field lacrosse. There are 18 Knighthawks playing in the following leagues: the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL), Major Series Lacrosse (MSL), the Can-Am Lacrosse League (CALL), and the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League (RMLL).

MSL:

Ryan Lanchbury made his Peterborough Lakers debut on Sunday, June 21. The Lakers fell 13-9, but Lanchbury factored in on almost half of their goals, scoring twice himself and bagging two assists. Peterborough sits at .500 on its season, 4-4. Lanchbury could be a major push for them through the next stretch of their season, though. He will be the Lakers quarterback in a very similar way to how he influences games for the Knighthawks.

Ryan Smith and the Six Nations Chiefs still hold an undefeated record at 8-0. Smith has played in six games so far. He’s averaging 3.17 points per game. Last time he played against Brooklin, he scored his signature twister across the goalmouth.

PLL:

Only three Knighthawks played in the PLL this weekend, with three teams having a bye week. Graydon Hogg scored twice for Boston in the opening game of the weekend on Long Island last Friday. Hogg put his first goal away with his off-hand, scoring a righty bounce shot. The second was to tie the game at 11 in the closing minutes, driving past a short-stick defender to take his shot to the rack.

Connor Fields and Mitchell Dunham took the field after Hogg. Dunham had only four touches, but two were ground balls, and he still managed to cause one turnover. Fields scored a goal and added an assist in the 16-14 loss, but the goal was one of the prettiest so far this summer.

Senior “B”:

If you haven’t seen Zed Williams playing for the Allegany Arrows yet, you are missing out. In only three games so far back in the box this summer, he has three goals, three assists, and a fight win. On June 13, he played his first game and came out the defensive door, but since then he has been back to normal as a forward and has been a big addition to an already strong righty side with Joe Resetarits.

The Arrows are 10-6 and rank second in the Can-Am. The Tonawanda Braves are just behind them, also with a 10-6 record. Taylor Jensen has been a key factor in the squad’s success, scoring 18 points in 11 games with six goals and 12 assists.

Cam MacLeod has been the best goalie in the RMLL this summer. In six games, he is averaging 5.7 goals against per game. His 215 saves rank second in the league, while his .867 save percentage ranks first. He didn’t play last week, but he has been at the heart of a strong Miners squad with President’s Cup hopes.
