The Upstate Collegiate Box Lacrosse League (UCBLL) announced today that registration is open for the 2023 season. The UCBLL is a National Collegiate Box Series-affiliated league designed to college-age athletes a chance to hone their skills, gain valuable experience and help them take their game to the next level.
The league is open to current high school seniors to college seniors (including 5th-year college eligibility). However, if you do not play for or attend a collegiate team and are a high-level box lacrosse player, you must be between 17-23 years old to be eligible to play in the UCBLL.
The 2023 UCBLL Combine will be held Thursday, May 25, in Buffalo and Rochester. Rink locations and times are TBD. The season runs from June through July, with games and practices held Monday through Thursday nights. The four teams in the UCBLL will participate in eight practices and eight regular-season games.

The teams are coached by current and former National Lacrosse League players, including Ethan O’Connor and Dalton Sulver of the Buffalo Bandits, and Dan Coates and Ryland Rees of the Rochester Knighthawks.
The league, which has teams in Buffalo and Rochester, is among the most successful in the NCBS circuit. Not only have teams advanced to the playoffs of the NCBS National Championships in back-to-back campaigns, but the UCBLL has seen six of its players selected in the National Lacrosse League Entry Draft.
In 2021, Hunter Lemieux and Nick Miller were chosen in the draft. In 2022, the UCBLL saw double that number selected as Spencer Bell, Austin Blumbergs, Ryan Sharkey, and Christian Watts heard their names called at the draft in Toronto.
