The Roots Youth Box Lacrosse League (YBLL), powered by the Rochester Knighthawks and US Box Lacrosse Association (USBOXLA), is back for a seventh year. The eight-week program offers a unique experience. Its strong focus is on teaching the fundamentals of the box game and gaining game experience.
This fall, Rochester’s premier youth box lacrosse league, the Roots YBLL, will feature six professional players as coaches. The league has the top box coaches in the area. The All-Star coaching lineup includes Rochester Knighthawks Brad Gillies, Ryland Rees, Thomas McConvey, Jake Piseno and Tyler Jensen, and Luke Pilcher of the Las Vegas Desert Dogs.
“I am really excited for the continued growth in the YBLL,” said Roots founder and coach Brad Gillies. “Year after year the play develops to true box lacrosse, and with the lineup of coaches we have this year I see that trend continuing.”
Sessions will be held on Monday evenings between Oct. 28 and Dec. 16 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Tri-County Sports Complex at 856 Walworth-Penfield Road in Macedon, NY. Players will compete across four different grade-based divisions (3rd-4th Grade, 5th-6th Grade, 7th-8th Grade, and 9th-11th Grade). Goalies are free, using the code “fallgoalie2024.” Limited leg and upper body pads are available, so please reach out.
