Rochester's premier box lacrosse event will showcase youth players from throughout the United States and Canada

The Rochester Knighthawks and Roots Box Lacrosse have partnered to bring the inaugural Roch Vegas Showdown to Rochester on Saturday, Feb. 8 and Sunday, Feb. 9. Powered by the Knighthawks in conjunction with ML8 Events and USBOXLA, the premier box event will showcase Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget-aged players from throughout the northeast United States and Canada will make this the most competitive box lacrosse event around.

“I am thrilled to host a box event in conjunction with the Knighthawks,” said Roots Box Lacrosse founder and director Brad Gillies. “I am confident this will be an international event with the best box competition in the area. Bringing in great Canadian clubs exposes the American clubs to true box lacrosse, and my goal is to bring that here to Rochester.”

Players will compete across three different age-based divisions (5th-6th grade, 7th-8th grade and 9th-10th grade).

All teams are scheduled to play four games with the 9th/10th-grade teams having the potential to play games at The Blue Cross Arena on Sunday, Feb. 9 prior to the National Lacrosse League contest between the Knighthawks and Vancouver Warriors at 2:00 p.m. As part of the registration fee, every player attending the USBOXLA-sanctioned tournament will receive a ticket to the Knighthawks game later that afternoon.

All other games will be played at the Tri-County Sports Complex, located at 856 Walworth-Penfield Road in Macedon. The full schedule of games will be announced at a later date.
