The first ever pick of the Rochester Knighthawks new franchise in 2019, Rees was selected second overall. He was named the team's defensive MVP in each of the following three seasons. In his first and second seasons in the NLL, Rees led the Knighthawks in loose-ball recoveries with 75 and 118. He was named Chopper's Community Champ following the 2023-24 season for his dedication and service to the Rochester community.
He currently holds the Knighthawks franchise record for most games played and highest shooting percentage through a season when he notched 11 goals on 25 shots for 44% in the 2021-22 season. He also ranks third in the franchise all-time for loose-ball recoveries (455) and second in caused turnovers (83) and blocked shots (46).
Outside of the NLL, Rees is a long-stick midfielder for the California Redwoods in the Premier Lacrosse League. In 2022, as a member of the Waterdogs he hoisted the PLL championship trophy. He was selected in the last ever Major League Lacrosse draft, joining the Boston Cannons for one season, that got him selected to the 2019 MLL All-Star Team.
Prior to his professional career, Rees was a two-time captain at Stony Brook where he led the Seawolves as a two-time captain. He earned conference honors every year he played. He was selected to the All-Rookie Team in 2016 and was a First-Team selection in each of the three following seasons.He capped it off in 2019, being named the America East Defensive Player of the Year.
He played four years of Junior "A" starting with the Port Coquitlam Saints and finishing with the Coquitlam Adanacs, who he won the Minto Cup with in 2018.
