Entering his seventh season in the NLL, Fields is coming off his best two seasons in the league. He won the NLL MVP award for 2025 after tallying 46 goals and 76 assists along with 148 loose-ball recoveries. He ranked fourth in goals, sixth in assists, and first among forwards in loose balls.
In 2023-24, he broke 150 loose-ball recoveries for the first time in his career (158). He also ranked second in the league in goals that season (56). The year before, his first in Rochester, he led all Knighthawks in goals (52) and assists (60), and was second in loose-ball recoveries (142) only behind Matt Gilray.
Now an established veteran of the league, Fields finds good company in the record lists he is on. His 453 career points currently rank him seventh in scoring all-time amongst American players. Last year, he became the second player ever, along with Buffalo's Dhane Smith, to score 100 points in three consecutive seasons. The year before, he became the first player since John Tavares in 2001 to record more than 115 points and 150 loose-ball recoveries in a season.
Fields was drafted 10th overall in the 2018 NLL Entry Draft by San Diego. After two seasons there, he requested a move, home, to the East Coast. He was dealt to Buffalo and played for the Bandits in the 2021-22 season, but was left unprotected in the Las Vegas Desert Dogs expansion draft. He was the first overall pick of the expansion, but didn't feel right moving back out west after having requested a trade just a year before. Thankfully for him, Dan Carey and the Knighthawks were ready to add to their arsenal. They traded for Fields and Riley Hutchcraft off the new expansion roster. They also swapped the second for the first overall pick in the Entry Draft, which turned into Thomas McConvey.
Fields has led the Knighthawks in scoring every year that he's been with the team. Before entering the League, he was a four-year starter at the University of Albany. He put up one of the best freshman seasons ever, setting an NCAA freshman record with 66 goals in 19 games. He was a USILA All-American honorable mention as a freshman, Third team as a sophomore, and First team All-American as a junior and senior. He was a nominee for the Tewaarton as a Sophomore and senior, and was a finalist his junior year in 2017. In 69 games, Fields notched 199 goals, 165 assists, and 137 ground balls.
Along with his NLL career, Fields has played eight seasons of professional field lacrosse. He's a four-time all-star and two-time first-team All-Pro of the Premier Lacrosse League. He's also a two-time champion with the Archers in 2023 and 2024.
