(Rochester, NY)… Rochester Knighthawks President and General Manager Dan Carey announced today that the team has re-signed transition man Jeremy Thompson to a one-year deal, pending league approval.
“The longevity he’s had in this league speaks to his preparation and the type of shape that he’s in and how he looks after himself,” said Carey. “Another thing to acknowledge is his love of the game; I think when you’re enjoying it, and you’re honoring the game the right way, it’s going to come back and give back to you. If you’re good to the game, it’ll be good to you, and Jeremy’s been great to the game.”

Thompson returns for his second season with the Knighthawks and 15th in the NLL. Last season, he scooped up 114 loose balls and won 143 faceoffs. He became the fifth player ever to reach 2,000 career loose-ball recoveries, and he still ranks second all-time in career faceoff wins (2,703).
In his first year with the Knighthawks, Thompson showed his versatility. He took a majority of the faceoffs in 11 of the team’s 18 games and played regular defensive shifts in 17 games. His best defensive performance came against the Buffalo Bandits at home in January. He caused three turnovers and scooped up six loose balls on the way to a Knighthawks win. He also won over 60 percent of his faceoffs in four games against Vancouver, Ottawa, and Georgia.
Thompson joined the Knighthawks before the 2025-26 season as a free agent. He came to Rochester following three seasons in Georgia with the Swarm. From 2022-25, he won 565 faceoffs and scooped up 399 loose balls. Before that, he spent time with three other NLL teams: Panther City Lacrosse Club, Saskatchewan Rush, and the Buffalo Bandits. Thompson earned the NLL Teammate of the Year award in 2022 for his impact on the first-year Panther City squad. He also won three NLL Championships: 2015, 2016, and 2018.
He was drafted by the Buffalo Bandits in 2012 after playing two seasons at Syracuse University, where he was a two-time USILA All-American. Before joining the Orange, he played two seasons of junior college at Onondaga Community College, where he won the NJCAA National Championship in 2007 and 2009.
In addition to his 14-year indoor career, Thompson spent eight seasons playing outdoor professional lacrosse as a short-stick defensive midfielder. His first three seasons were spent with the Hamilton Nationals from 2011-13. In 2015, he was a member of the Rochester Rattlers. His last year in the Premier Lacrosse League was 2020 with the Atlas.
