(Uncasville, CT) … The Rochester Knighthawks (1-8) were unable to generate much offensive firepower as the New England Black Wolves (5-3) went on a seven-goal surge to open the fourth quarter and ran away with an 18-7 win over the Knighthawks at Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday night.
Holden Cattoni (3+0) once again led the scoring with a three-goal night, all of which came on special teams, with two on the power-play and one shorthanded. Shawn Evans and Turner Evans each notched three assists, Cory Highfield finished with a goal and assist while Mark Cockerton tallied two assists in his season debut for the Knighthawks. Rookie Rylan Hartley made his second start of the year in the crease for Rochester and stopped 41 of the 55 shots he faced while taking the loss. In the fourth quarter, Craig Wende replaced Hartley, making 11 saves in 14:17 of relief effort.

WATCH: GAME HIGHLIGHTS
Heading into the half, New England had a 7-4 lead on Rochester after the teams traded a pair of goals each in the opening quarter before the Black Wolves took control to begin the third.
New England would come out strong in the third quarter, scoring three straight, including twice on the power-play, before the Knighthawks would find the back of the net again. Cattoni completed his hat trick 8:51 into the third while coming off the bench and zipping a shot past Jamieson in the lower left corner of the net to make it a 10-5 game.
The Black Wolves, however, would strike back twice more in the third before Highfield notched his seventh marker of the year with just 15 seconds to go from a set-up from both Shawn and Turner Evans. Highfield powered through a New England defender to take the ball right to the crease and put one past Jamieson to make it 12-6 heading into the final quarter.
After seven straight goals from New England in the fourth quarter, Rochester found the back of the net for the final time of the contest. Knight would find himself on the scoresheet for the first time of the game with just 1:18 to go, notching his 13th on the year. Cockerton sent a pass from the restraining line to Knight, who then weaved through three New England defenders to tally the final marker of the game.
Much like the team’s previous matchup against Vancouver, the first quarter started in favor of Rochester as they notched the first two goals of the contest. Cattoni would knock in his first of the night on the power-play goal just 2:50 into the tilt with assists from Highfield and Turner Evans. Lintner then connected on a feed from Shawn Evans nearly six minutes later, diving through the air and beating Jamieson inside the near post for his eighth of the season.
After New England went on a five-goal run to turn a 2-0 deficit into a 5-2 lead, Rochester would finally find its way back on the board 9:16 into the second quarter. A transition play that started with Hartley ended with Frank Brown on the receiving end of a pass from Dylan Evans. Brown took it down the floor and fired in his first goal of the season.
After Cattoni’s second of the game made it 7-4 entering the half, the Black Wolves would go on to outscore Rochester 11-3 over the final 30 minutes on their way to an 18-7 win.
The Knighthawks return home on Saturday, Feb. 29 when they welcome the only visit of the season from the New York Riptide. The 7:00 p.m. matchup will be the only meeting of the season between the NLL’s two expansion franchises and can be heard live on 107.3 FM The Bull as well as B/R Live.
