Rochester Knighthawks General Manager and Vice President of Lacrosse Operations Dan Carey announced today that the team has acquired forward Ryan Lanchbury from the Georgia Swarm in exchange for a 2024 first-round pick as well as a conditional first-round compensatory pick, pending league approval.
Lanchbury, 25, comes to Rochester after spending his rookie season with the Georgia Swarm, recording 16 points (6+10) in 10 games in 2022-23.
Selected by Georgia second overall in the 2021 NLL Entry Draft, Lanchbury is the most decorated player in history to come out of the University of Richmond, where he set school records for goals (162), assists (131) and points (293) over five seasons with the Spiders and was a two-time First Team All-Southern Conference selection.
Lanchbury, who started in 69 of his 70 career games at Richmond, recorded a point in 54 straight games, the fourth-longest point streak in the nation, on his way to becoming Richmond’s all-time scoring leader. He totaled 247 points (134+114) during that span, earning a nomination for the Tewaaraton Award as the nation’ top collegiate player.
As a senior in 2021, the Burlington, Ontario, native led the team and ranked second in scoring in the Southern Conference with 67 points (28+39) while serving as team captain. His 67 points were the third-most all-time in school history in a single season. For his efforts, Lanchbury would be named a First Team All-Conference selection as well as the Southern Conference Player of the Year, becoming the first player in program history to earn the honors. He was also named an Honorable Mention All-America by both Inside Lacrosse and the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.
During his sophomore season, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound forward set Richmond’s single-season records with 52 goals and 72 points. He finished the season ranked sixth nationally in goals and 14th in points en route to earning SoCon All-Tournament Team accolades.
Prior to attending Richmond, Lanchbury was an accomplished two-sport high school athlete in both lacrosse and hockey at Avon Old Farms preparatory school in Connecticut. A 2017 Under Armour All-American, he set single-season records with 62 goals and 38 assists as a senior while captaining the Winged Beavers to Founders League championships in 2014, 2015 and 2017 as well as a Western New England title in 2015.
He also won a New England Championship in hockey in 2017.
Lanchbury’s resume also includes two seasons of Senior ‘A’ ball in Major Series Lacrosse with Oakville and Brooklin, over which he’s produced 102 points on 36 goals and 66 assists in 18 combined games. Additionally, he’s amassed an astounding 298 points (97+201) in 69 appearances at the Junior ‘A’ level with the Burlington Chiefs between 2015 and 2019.
