Rochester Knighthawks General Manager and Vice President of Lacrosse Operations Dan Carey announced today that the team has signed forwards Jack Boyden and Graydon Hogg and defenseman Jake Piseno all to a one-year contract for the 2024-25 National Lacrosse League season, pending league approval.
Boyden, 24, concluded a five-year collegiate career between the University of Virginia and Tufts University from 2019-24, recording 347 points (187+160) in 77 contests. As a graduate student with the Cavaliers in 2023-24, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound forward notched 20 goals and 17 assists for 37 points while helping the program reach the NCAA Semifinals.
Before transferring to the University of Virginia, Boyden produced 167 goals and 143 assists for 310 points in 58 career games with the Jumbos. The Toronto, Ontario native was a two-time All-American and the reigning 2023 Division III Player of the Year.
As a senior in 2023, Boyden set the Jumbos’ single-season points (157) and assists (88) records while leading the program on an incredible undefeated run to the National Championship Game and a 22-1 record.
Boyden was originally drafted by the Knighthawks in the third round (47th overall) of the 2023 NLL Entry Draft.
Hogg, 24, concluded a five-year collegiate career at the University at Albany, producing 112 goals and 44 assists for 156 points while also gathering 71 loose balls in 61 games since the start of 2020. Hogg was a three-time America East All-Conference Second Team selection and a First Team All-America East honoree.
In 2024, Hogg was named First Team All-America East, AE All-Academic, and AE All-Tournament as he finished second amongst all Great Danes in assists (15) and third in both goals (27) and points (42). In addition to helping the team to a 10-8 record and the program’s 10th America East championship title, the 5-foot-9, 180-pound forward aided the club in earning a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Hogg spent five seasons with the Whitby Warriors (Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League). In 55 regular season contests, the Oshawa, Ontario native totaled 112 points (49+63) since the start of the 2016 campaign. Also, he notched nine points (4+5) in 13 postseason games.
Hogg was originally drafted by the Knighthawks in the first round (15th overall) of the 2023 NLL Entry Draft.
Piseno, 23, concluded a five-year collegiate career at the University at Albany, registering 39 points on 20 goals and 19 assists in 66 games also gathering 291 loose balls in 66 games since the start of 2020. The 5-foot-8, 180-pound defenseman was the America East Defensive Player of the Year recipient following the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He was a four-time America East All-Conference selection, including First Team laurels in his final two seasons.
As a senior in 2024, the Liverpool, New York native was named the recipient of the prestigious William C. Schmeisser Award, as the top defensive player in Division I men’s lacrosse. He led the Great Danes to their first conference title since 2018 and finished third in the nation with 2.44 caused turnovers per game.
Piseno played in all eight games at the 2023 World Lacrosse Championship with Haudenosaunee, totaling two goals, four assists, and 11 ground balls. He was named the Best Defender, All-World while claiming a bronze medal.
He played for the Mearns Cup champion Hawkeyes of the UCBLL in 2023 and was named First Team All-NCBS. Piseno was originally drafted by the Knighthawks in the second round (35th overall) of the 2023 NLL Entry Draft.
