Rochester Knighthawks General Manager and Vice President of Lacrosse Operations Dan Carey announced today that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Joshua Toguri on a two-year contract, pending league approval.
A 24-year-old native of Etobicoke, Ontario, Toguri joins the Knighthawks after spending parts of the 2021 and 2019 seasons with the Brooklin Redmen of Major Series Lacrosse, totaling three assists in four games.
Prior to that, the 5-foot-9, 170-pound defenseman played back-to-back seasons with the Oshawa Outlaws of the Arena Lacrosse League from 2019-20. In 19 career games with the Outlaws, Toguri registered 15 points (6+9) and was named to the 2019 ALL All-Rookie Team in his first year with the team.
Toguri’s vast lacrosse resume also includes four years (2015-18) of Junior “A” ball with the Mimico Mountaineers, during which he amassed 26 points (9+17) and 142 penalty minutes over 79 games. He also added four points (2+2) in 22 postseason appearances.
He played his collegiate lacrosse with the Guelph Gryphons of the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association (CUFLA) and represented the Netherlands at the 2019 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship.
