With a four-point outing (3+1) from Maeve Brennan, the Irondequoit Eagles (7-7) earned a 9-4 victory over the Penfield Patriots (5-9) in girl’s high school lacrosse action Wednesday evening.
By earning the win, the Eagles have won three straight games to even their record on the spring to 7-7 while also picking up victory in four of their last five contests dating back to April 27.
Brennan, who entered the matchup with a team-best 32 goals and 45 points, added to her totals as she tallied three goals and an assist. Over her last eight games, the Jacksonville University commit has produced 26 of her 35 goals and has logged at least two goals in each of her last five games.
Alison Baumgartner (2+0), Evin Terzioglu (2+0) and Emma McGuigan (1+1) all turned in a multi-point performance while Izzy Geesler and Ella Brennan chipped in a goal and an assist, respectively.
Junior goaltender Jessica Kowalski made her 14th appearance of the spring and finished with a pair of saves in the win.
Penfield, which entered the game the winners of three straight and a 5-8 overall record, had goals from Peyton Rothfuss and Katie Baumer. Senior goaltender Molly Joyce, a Vanderbilt commit, made the start in goal but she suffered the loss.
Irondequoit opened the contest by taking a quick two-goal advantage in the first half. Penfield managed to even the score at 2-2 before the two teams exchanged markers to make it a three-goal game.
The Eagles added a pair of tallies, which included Brennan’s third of the contest, to take a 5-3 cushion into the half.
Irondequoit carried a two-goal lead for much of the second half before closing out the game with the final three goals to cap the 9-4 victory.
