The Spencerport Rangers (2-7) erupted to take a 13-1 halftime lead Wednesday evening before finishing off the 17-2 victory versus the Brockport Blue Devils (3-6) in girl’s lacrosse at Brockport High School.
GAME SUMMARYThe Rangers, who entered the matchup having dropped four of their last five and showing a 1-7 record overall, were led by senior Ruby DePalma and sophomore Molly Guzik as the duo both produced three goals. Guzik also added a pair of helpers to finish off a five-point effort.
Senior Livia Fedele (2+1), juniors Isabella Buono (0+2) and Adriana O’Heron (3+0), sophomore Alyssa Nichols (2+0) and eighth-grader Brooke Endres (2+1) all registered a multi-point performance. Senior goaltender Kayla Ferrigno (2-7) made her ninth appearance of the spring and allowed just a pair of goals while earning the win.
Brockport got on the board twice as senior Kiera Wilson and sophomore Zoe Baase both found the scoresheet as they scored the fifth and 11th goals of the season, respectively. Junior netminder Molly Howlett (3+6) made her second appearance in two days and ninth of the campaign. Howlett stopped 17 shots but took the loss.
Spencerport jumped out to take a dominating 13-1 lead at the end of the first half. With the running time run in effect in the second half, the Rangers added four more tallies while Brockport scored once to finish off the 17-2 rout.
The Rangers will look for their second straight win and third of the slate as they travel to Brighton on Monday, May 2 while Brockport will try to rebound on Wednesday, May 4 when they visit Gates Chili.
