The Hilton Cadets (8-8) overcame an 8-5 first-half deficit with a nine-goal offensive outburst in the second to power their way to a 14-9 victory over the Honeoye Falls-Lima Cougars (8-8) in a Monroe County Crossover game on Friday, May 20 at Hilton high school.
By earning the win, the Cadets have won three straight games to even their record on the spring to 8-8 while outscoring their opponents 32-21 over that stretch. The Cougars, meanwhile, entered the matchup winners of six of their last nine.
GAME SUMMARYHilton seniors Joseph Maneti (3+0) and Cole Loweke (3+2) both turned in a hat trick while William Salamone (2+1) and Aiden Cawley (2+3) both posted a multi-goal effort as they each scored two goals. Nicholas Fede notched a pair of points while Robert Taddeo, Colton Thorp and Chase Wilson all added one goal. Jason Mosher and Ryan Douglas split the goaltending duties as they combined for 14 saves.
Quinn Kailbourne had a game-high four goals for Honeoye Falls-Lima while Drew Angelo and Matthew Brassie each tallied a pair of markers in the defeat. David Brassie (0+2) and Chase Perryman (1+3) both recorded a multi-point performance. Goaltender Trevor Reese stopped 10 of the 24 shots he faced.
At the 9:39 mark of the third quarter, Honeoye Falls-Lima pushed their lead to 9-7 as Kalibourne netted an unassisted tally.
The advantage did not last, however, as Hilton stormed back with two markers in the quarter from Taddeo and Salamone before Fede, Cawley, Maneti, Loewke and Wilson all found the back of the net in the final frame to complete the 14-9 victory.
Hilton began the first quarter with four straight goals to build a 4-0 cushion at the 4:51 mark. Kailbourne scored twice in a span of 25 seconds to cut the score to two, but Maneti and Salamone netted goals sandwiching Angelo’s goal.
The second quarter started with a 6-3 Hilton lead, but Honeoye Falls-Lima countered to take a 9-7 advantage.
The Cadets outscored the Cougars 9-1 in the second half to earn the 14-9 victory.
