(Rochester, NY)… The Rochester Knighthawks strengthened their defense today by selecting three defensemen and one goaltender in the 2026 National Lacrosse League Dispersal Draft. Joining the Knighthawks are Callum Jones, Brent Noseworthy, Luc Magnan, and Tyler Carlson.
The draft featured players from the Philadelphia Wings and Ottawa Black Bears.
In the third round, Knighthawks President and General Manager Dan Carey traded the 27th overall pick to the Buffalo Bandits for a third-round selection in 2029.
Rochester used its first pick (third overall) to take Jones, the reigning National Lacrosse League Defensive Player of the Year. Jones joins the Knighthawks after playing three seasons with the Ottawa/New York franchise.
In three campaigns, he posted 25 points (7+18), 331 loose-ball recoveries, 69 caused turnovers, and 29 blocked shots. He is coming off a breakout season in 2025-26, notching a career high with three goals and 11 points, and also setting career bests on the defensive side of the ball. The Burlington, Ontario, native scooped up 173 loose balls, which was third in the league. He also tied Matt Hossack for second in the league with 32 caused turnovers. Jones was originally selected third overall in the 2023 NLL Entry Draft.
The Knighthawks used their second-round selection (15th overall) to take another Burlington native. Noseworthy enters his seventh season in the NLL after appearing in 18 games last season with Ottawa. In his career, he has played in 91 games, posting 41 points (6+35), 513 loose-ball recoveries, 62 blocked shots, and 55 caused turnovers.
Noseworthy broke into the NLL during the 2019-20 season after being selected 12th overall by the Buffalo Bandits in the NLL Entry Draft. In March of 2022, the Bandits sent him and the 2022 fourth-round pick to New York in exchange for a 2024 first-round draft pick. He spent two seasons in New York before moving with the franchise to Ottawa for the 2024-25 season.
Before going pro, Noseworthy spent four years at the University of Michigan, where he became the first player in program history to record 100 goals (102) and ranked second among all-time Michigan lacrosse players in points (119). He was named an Academic All-American in 2018-19 and served as team captain in 2019.
After trading out of the third round, the team picked next at 39th overall and went for a veteran defender once again. Magnan enters his 11th year in the NLL after earning league Teammate of the Year honors. Since 2016, he’s spent time in Toronto, Rochester, Halifax, and Ottawa, with his best seasons coming in 2018 and 2019 as a member of the first Knighthawks franchise.
In two seasons in Ottawa, Magnan tallied 113 loose-ball recoveries, 18 caused turnovers, and 16 blocked shots in 35 games. Originally selected 17th overall by the Toronto Rock in the 2015 NLL Entry Draft, the 34-year-old defender had his finest seasons in 2018 and 2019. Magnan tallied 18 points and scooped up 83 loose-ball recoveries in 2018, helping Rochester advance to the NLL Finals. The next year he caused 11 turnovers and scooped up 108 loose-ball recoveries while also notching seven points.
Magnan spent summers early in his career playing for the Brampton Excelsiors, but has been behind the bench since 2021, first serving as defensive coordinator for his alma mater, the Toronto Beaches. In 2025, he took an assistant coaching position with the Snake Island Muskies, helping the team hoist the Presidents Cup that summer and reach the final in 2026.
Before being drafted, Magnan played four seasons at Robert Morris University. He finished his time as a Colonial in 2015 and left ranked fifth all-time in caused turnovers with 43. Before college, Magnan played for the Toronto Beaches in Junior “A” and had a brief stint in the middle of that tenure with his hometown Manitoba Gryphons in Junior “B.” In 2013, he was traded to the Six Nations Arrows and helped the team reach the Ontario Final, but they ultimately came up short.
The team used their last selection in the draft, 51st overall, to take 38-year-old goaltender Tyler Carlson. Carlson enters his 14th NLL season, having previously spent time with the Minnesota Swarm, the Edmonton/Saskatchewan Rush, the San Diego Seals, the Colorado Mammoth, and the Ottawa Black Bears last year. Over his career, he has notched 18 wins and has a career 11.65 goals-against average.
Carlson is a proven winner, having hoisted the NLL Championship trophy four times in his career while participating in six finals. Three titles came with the Rush from 2015 through 2018 and one with the Mammoth in 2022. He also won a Mann Cup in 2012 with the Peterborough Lakers.
