Rochester Knighthawks General Manager and Vice President of Lacrosse Operations Dan Carey announced today that the team has signed defensemen Mitch Ogilvie and Carter Schott, and face-off specialist Connor Farrell all to two-year deals, pending league approval.
Ogilvie completed his second season with Rochester in 2022-23, leading all team defensemen in assists (7) and points (8) while being one of only seven Knighthawks to appear in all 18 games. In 26 career NLL games, all with Rochester, he has amassed 10 points on three goals and seven assists while also recording 156 loose ball recoveries.
A native of Peterborough, Ontario, is currently in his second season with his hometown Peterborough Lakers, where he shows six points (3+3) in 21 MSL contests. He led the Lakers to their fourth straight Mann Cup in 2022 after producing 14 points (6+8) in 26 games.
During the 2019 season, Ogilvie scored a career-high eight goals as part of an 18-point season with his Junior ‘A’ Lakers. In his Junior “A” career, he has collected 51 points (15+36) over 56 games.
Rochester’s fourth-round selection (54th overall) of the 2020 NLL Entry Draft, Ogilvie was also a five-year starter at Guelph University.
The only defenseman to be taken by the Knighthawks in the 2022 NLL Entry Draft, Schott, selected 65th overall, played two seasons of Junior ‘B’ lacrosse with the Green Gaels from 2018-19, recording 16 points (8+8) in 26 games. He also appeared in eight games with the Junior ‘A’ Whitby Warriors as well as six games in 2021 with Trent University.
Acquired by Rochester from San Diego in exchange for a pair of 2023 draft picks earlier this month, the 26-year-old Farrell joins the Knighthawks after spending his third professional season with the Seals in 2022-23. As a rookie, the Holtsville, New York native was signed to the New York Riptide’s practice squad.
The 6-foot-2, 240-pound face-off specialist is currently in his fifth campaign with the Chrome Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League. Since the start of 2019, Farrell has appeared in 32 games, showing eight points (6+2) to go with 334 loose ball recoveries and winning 532 of his 948 face-offs for a 56.1 winning-percentage.
He is a two-time PLL All-Star (2022, 2023) and earned a sportsmanship award in 2019.
Prior to turning pro, Farrell completed a four-year collegiate career at Long Island University (NCAA) from 2016-2019, registering 23 points on 12 goals and 11 assists in 50 career games. In addition to being a three-time All-ECC First Team honoree, he also added 507 ground balls while showing a .728 face-off winning percentage.
In his final season with the Pioneers, he finished first in the nation in face-off winning percentage (.814) as well as ground balls per game (16.75), both of which were new NCAA Division II records for a single season. Additionally, he established an NCAA Division II single-game record with 30 ground balls against Merrimack on Mar. 9, 2019.
Farrell was originally a second-round selection (24th overall) of the Riptide in the 2019 NLL Entry Draft.
