The National Lacrosse League announced today the Rochester Knighthawks’ schedule for the 2019-20 regular season. Rochester will open its inaugural NLL campaign on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 7:00 p.m. against the Georgia Swarm at The Blue Cross Arena.
The Knighthawks, who will play in the NLL’s North Division this coming season, will face-off against each of the other 12 teams at least once during the 18-game regular-season schedule (nine home games and nine road games).
Rochester will be joined in the North Division by the Buffalo Bandits, Halifax Thunderbirds and Toronto Rock, all of whom the Knighthawks will play three times over the course of the season. The remainder of Rochester’s schedule features single meetings with all other non-divisional teams.
After beginning the season at home, the team makes its first trip north of the border to Halifax on Saturday, Dec. 21 before returning to Rochester to face the Rock on Saturday, Dec. 28 in the first half of a home-and-home set. The Knighthawks will then play three of their first four games of the New Year on the road, culminating with a divisional matchup against the defending East Division champion Bandits on Friday, Jan. 31 to close out the month.
The Knighthawks will play five straight games against non-divisional opponents, a stretch beginning on Sunday, Feb. 9 against Vancouver – their lone Sunday home contest of the season – and concluding with a two-game road set on back-to-back nights at San Diego on Saturday, Mar. 7 and at Colorado on Sunday, Mar. 8. The team will also get its first look at the New York Riptide, the NLL’s other expansion team, when they come to town on Saturday, Feb. 29.
Rochester wraps up the home portion of its schedule with consecutive meetings against Halifax in March, which is also the team’s longest homestand, before hosting back-to-back visits from Buffalo in April to close out the season.
The Knighthawks will play eight of their nine home games on Saturday nights at 7:00 p.m. except for Sunday, Feb. 9 when they host the Vancouver Warriors at 3:00 p.m. The team’s busiest months are January, March and April with four games each.
